On September 22, BMW Group commenced trial production of the energy management system at its powertrain facility within the Shenyang production base. This milestone signifies the complete localization of all core processes for sixth-generation battery electric technology in China. These processes encompass technology research and development, component sourcing, cell production, as well as the assembly of battery packs and energy management systems.

The energy management system functions as the central control hub for BMW's independently developed sixth-generation battery electric technology. It oversees both high-voltage and low-voltage power supply interfaces, along with battery data interactions, guaranteeing the safe and intelligent operation of the battery electric system.

The Shenyang plant has now become BMW's sole factory outside Germany capable of producing the energy management system. Furthermore, it stands as the only global facility that integrates foundry, engine, battery electric technology, and energy management system production capabilities all in one location.

The first locally produced model of this new generation, the new BMW iX3, is now open for pre-orders, with deliveries set to commence in November.
