Based on a press release issued by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, on September 16, the 'First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (2026-2030)' was unveiled. The plan outlines strategies to streamline cross-border vehicle traffic and foster the growth of cross-border autonomous driving. This includes ongoing efforts to refine convenient measures such as 'Hong Kong Vehicles Northbound' and 'Guangdong Vehicles Southbound,' as well as promoting the integration of charging infrastructure to cater to the needs of cross-border travel and daily commuting. Additionally, the plan commits to actively pursuing cross-border autonomous driving demonstration projects, with the aim of facilitating their expansion and eventual commercialization.
