On September 14 (local time), Waymo announced on its official blog that it has entered into a partnership with Nihon Kotsu and GO, with plans to launch driverless ride-hailing services in Tokyo by 2027. Waymo stated that the specific timeline depends on obtaining regulatory approval, as well as ongoing validation of technology and joint operations. The service will be available through the GO and Waymo apps, initially launching with a fleet of a certain size and gradually expanding to approximately 100 vehicles, covering major neighborhoods in Tokyo.
