Tesla's commercialized ride-hailing service, which has been rolled out in select markets, currently operates within specific time frames. The executive in charge of Tesla's AI business has indicated that with the introduction of the next-generation FSD (Full Self-Driving) architecture, the service will transition to 24-hour uninterrupted operations, albeit initially with human oversight. According to the outlined plan, the relevant commercial fleet is slated for deployment in October, with certain vehicles already boasting an early iteration of FSD v15. This iteration of the architecture incorporates seven significant enhancements, elevating it to a neural network with billions of parameters. It enables earlier danger prediction, quicker reaction times, improved collision avoidance, and compatibility with both the Cybercab and retrofitted Model Y vehicles. The computational prowess of HW4/AI4 is sufficient to meet the demands of this version and support unsupervised autonomous driving. Moreover, the FSD computer performance in the production version of the Cybercab is anticipated to be even more robust.
Tesla is actively broadening the operational scope and geographic boundaries of its Robotaxi service, having already commenced unsupervised nighttime operations. The integration of the Cybercab into the fleet is expected to bridge the gaps in operational time slots, paving the way for a round-the-clock service. The deployment of FSD v15 stands as a pivotal prerequisite for the extensive expansion of the Robotaxi service. Its testing and validation on commercial vehicles are also projected to expedite the rollout of this version to civilian vehicles equipped with HW4 hardware, starting from the end of this year and extending into early next year.
