The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has opened up for public consultation a mandatory national standard. This revision is designed to tackle emerging challenges in industrial growth and prioritize safety. Considering the present state of the industry and the gaps in the current standards, the updated draft has introduced provisions to limit hydrogen emission rates in specific settings, such as tunnels. Moreover, it emphasizes the enhancement of three critical safety aspects: comprehensive monitoring of hydrogen emissions throughout the vehicle's lifecycle, ensuring the tightness and pressure resilience of high-pressure components within the onboard hydrogen system, and the bidirectional communication system between the 70MPa hydrogen storage vehicle and the refueling station. This revision encompasses modifications to 23 technical specifications, with 11 being mandatory clauses added for the first time. The definitive standard is anticipated to be published in the second quarter of 2024, and the public is encouraged to submit their feedback within a 30-day window.
