The Canadian labor union has declared that a tentative deal has been struck with United States-based General Motors. Under this agreement, General Motors will channel 1.1 billion Canadian dollars (equivalent to roughly 5.36 billion yuan) into the Canadian automotive sector. As per the terms, General Motors is set to manufacture the next-gen line of heavy-duty pickup trucks at its Oshawa facility in Ontario. Moreover, the company has pledged not to promptly offload or shut down its plant in Ingersoll, Ontario. The agreement also encompasses backing for the upcoming V8 engine initiative and outlines plans to kick off a new transmission assembly project at the St. Catharines plant in Ontario by the close of 2029.
