BMW M Division is actively advancing the mass production plans for its first fully electric M3, which will be launched simultaneously with the next-generation gasoline-powered M3 in 2027. The electric M3 will be built on the all-new Neue Klasse platform and feature the sixth-generation eDrive electric propulsion technology. At the 2026 Monterey Car Week, BMW M unveiled the M Concept Neue Klasse concept car, showcasing its future design and technological direction. Taking the opportunity of the 40th anniversary of the M3's debut, the concept car incorporates advanced technologies such as four-motor drive and torque vectoring, along with an 800V high-voltage architecture, a battery pack with a capacity exceeding 100kWh, and BMW's self-developed "Heart of Joy" central control unit. In terms of design, the vehicle integrates racing elements, while the interior utilizes eco-friendly and lightweight materials. The CEO of BMW M stated that the technologies featured in the concept car will be directly applied to the mass-produced electric M3. This model not only represents a significant milestone in BMW M's electrification transformation but also signals its entry into a new phase of development, with the potential to reshape the competitive landscape of the high-performance electric vehicle market.
