Xpeng Group has officially dismissed unfounded rumors concerning the research and development status of driver assistance systems for certain vehicle models, affirming that the integration process for its second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) model is advancing according to schedule. The second-generation VLA, a cutting-edge physical AI large model unveiled in March of this year, boasts a 30% improvement in traffic efficiency when compared to conventional Level 2 driver assistance systems and Robotaxi services. Moreover, it is adept at interpreting traffic police signals and facilitating sobriety checks. Xpeng intends to launch the Max distilled version in the latter half of the year. Models featuring the Max version, equipped with a single Turing chip, are anticipated to be the first to receive OTA (Over-the-Air) updates by late August or early September, succeeded by older Max models that incorporate dual Orin-X chips. On August 19, it was verified that this iteration will introduce substantial OTA enhancements, notably the reintroduction of split-screen functionality. Furthermore, the second-generation VLA model has already made inroads into both the Chinese and European markets and is expediting its European mass-production adaptation, with the objective of progressively rolling out to international customers by 2027.
