Amazon’s autonomous driving subsidiary, Zoox, has announced that it will roll out a fee-based Robotaxi service in Las Vegas, United States, commencing August 10. This development positions Zoox as the first company globally to commercially deploy autonomous taxis that are devoid of steering wheels or pedals. Zoox’s fare structure comprises a base rate, with the total cost determined by the distance and duration of each journey. Its service is positioned similarly to Uber and Lyft’s ‘Comfort’ class, offering rates that are 20% to 40% higher than those of standard ride-hailing options.
