On August 5 (local time), Zoox, an autonomous driving company owned by Amazon, announced that starting from August 10, it will begin offering paid services to customers in Las Vegas, USA. The charges will include a base fare, with the total fee calculated based on the distance and duration of the trip, though specific details were not disclosed. Previously, Zoox had obtained a temporary exemption from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), allowing it to commercially deploy up to 2,500 autonomous taxis annually for two years, subject to a regulatory framework that will be adjusted as technology advances.
