Recently, both traditional automakers and emerging players in the automotive industry have unveiled their sales or delivery figures for the inaugural month (July) of the second half of the year. Despite July traditionally marking a sluggish period for car sales, leading new-force automakers continue to demonstrate strong sales momentum. Mid-tier automakers are locked in fierce competition within the 30,000-unit sales bracket, while certain automakers are grappling with declines in both production and sales, further fueling the trend of industry divergence.

According to projections by the China Passenger Car Association, retail sales of narrowly defined passenger vehicles are anticipated to reach 1.52 million units in July, reflecting a 5.1% month-on-month decrease and a 16.8% year-on-year decline. Notably, retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles are expected to surge to approximately 980,000 units, with the market penetration rate climbing further to 64.5%. This scenario presents a mixed bag of market opportunities and challenges.

Industry analysts highlight that the traditional slow season, coupled with the post-sales-push demand slump from the first half of the year, is prompting the automotive market to revert to a state of genuine demand. This shift is poised to further escalate structural adjustments within the automotive sector. Faced with an unprecedented intensification of divergence, the preview window for the knockout phase among automakers is gradually inching closer, posing a tangible challenge that all automakers must now address.
