On July 2, news emerged that the mandatory national standard titled Safety Requirements of Combined Driving Assistance Systems for Intelligent Connected Vehicles (GB47955—2026) — formulated and overseen by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology — received approval for issuance from the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China on June 27, 2026. The standard is slated for implementation on January 1, 2027. The introduction of this standard sets unified safety benchmarks for combined driving assistance systems. It plays a pivotal role in bolstering the safety performance of intelligent connected vehicles and fostering the industry's healthy and sustainable growth. Moving forward, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will actively champion the dissemination and enforcement of the standard. It will reinforce access management for intelligent connected vehicle products, clarify enterprises' primary safety obligations, and guarantee the safe and compliant utilization of combined driving assistance systems. Simultaneously, the ministry will expedite the release and enforcement of other mandatory national standards, such as those pertaining to autonomous driving systems. This will establish a comprehensive standard testing and regulatory framework for intelligent connected vehicles, propel the industrialization of autonomous driving technology, and usher China's intelligent connected vehicle industry into a new era of high-quality development.
