On June 18, the first 5,000-ton-class demonstration ship of Pinglu Canal's intelligent vessel, named 'Beigang Canal 002,' built in Guigang, Guangxi, embarked on its trial voyage, marking the official transition of Pinglu Canal's intelligent vessels from the construction phase to the operational application phase. This demonstration vessel, an inland river ship, features 'intelligence' and 'green' characteristics, and its hull design will serve as a model for vessels navigating the canal. The intelligent vessel achieves data interconnection through an onboard intelligent navigation system and a remote control system on the canal shore, enabling functions such as situation awareness, status monitoring, and assisted driving. This trial voyage will facilitate the refinement of navigation standards for inland intelligent vessels, accumulate experimental data, and promote the formulation of navigation standards and the practical application of vessel autonomous driving technology. The fully enclosed and standardized dimensions of the Pinglu Canal waterway make it an ideal scenario for testing and applying vessel automation. In the future, comprehensive testing and demonstration applications of real-ship formation navigation across multiple segments and scenarios will be conducted.
