CPCA: 61,000 Pickup Trucks Sold in May, Marking a 16.3% Year-on-Year Increase

On June 15, data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) revealed that the pickup truck market exhibited strong production and sales momentum in the second quarter, with particularly notable export growth in May. Specifically, in May 2026, pickup truck sales soared to 61,000 units, representing a 16.3% year-on-year increase and a 2.4% month-on-month rise. This sales figure marked the second-highest level for the same period over the past five years. From January to May, cumulative sales reached 281,000 units, up by 8.6% compared to the same period last year. Regarding production, 59,000 pickup trucks rolled off the assembly lines in May, a 14.5% year-on-year increase. Total production from January to May amounted to 280,000 units, reflecting a 10.1% growth. Great Wall Motors maintained its leading position in the pickup truck market, showcasing robust performance in both domestic and international arenas. Changan Automobile, Jiangling Motors, SAIC MAXUS, JAC Motors, and Zhengzhou Nissan also stood out, propelled by export growth. In the domestic pickup truck retail market, brands like Great Wall Motors, Jiangling Motors, Zhengzhou Nissan, RADAR, and Jiangxi Isuzu excelled, upholding a market structure characterized by 'one dominant leader and multiple strong competitors.'
