On June 12, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), stated in an article that the key factors influencing fluctuations in vehicle prices are structural changes and variations in sales volume. When sales growth slows down, the average price in the automotive market tends to keep rising. For example, the average retail price of passenger cars was 165,000 yuan in 2021 and had climbed to 184,000 yuan by 2024. Nevertheless, in 2025, the average price of passenger cars dipped to 168,000 yuan, representing a decrease of 16,000 yuan compared to 2024. By May 2026, the average price of passenger cars had once again surged to 173,000 yuan, showing an increase of 4,000 yuan from the same period the previous year.
