On June 9, BYD Company Limited (01211.HK) released a statement noting that, on June 8, 2026 (U.S. time), the U.S. Department of Defense published a "Notice on Designating Chinese Military-Industrial Enterprises" and included BYD in the list of Chinese military-industrial enterprises. BYD asserts that it is neither a Chinese military-industrial enterprise nor a military-civilian integration enterprise, and considers its inclusion on the list to be unjustified. It is important to note that the list of Chinese military-industrial enterprises is not a sanctions list. As such, BYD’s inclusion on this list will not significantly impact the group’s business operations, including its dealings with entities other than the U.S. Department of Defense. Furthermore, U.S. government procurement restrictions associated with this list will not affect BYD’s business activities, and the list does not impose any restrictions on the trading of BYD’s securities.
