On May 20, 2026, Tesla made a significant announcement: its 'Full Self-Driving (FSD, Supervised)' driver assistance software was officially launched in Lithuania. This marked Lithuania as the second European country, following the Netherlands, to grant approval for the software's utilization. According to the United Nations R-171 regulation, this software falls under Level 2 driver assistance, necessitating continuous monitoring by drivers who must be ready to intervene at any given moment.
Earlier, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW) had granted a European Type Approval, paving the way for mutual recognition among EU member states. In Lithuania, test ride experiences have been available in stores since April 20, and the recruitment process for local operation and maintenance personnel has commenced. Presently, in Europe, FSD is exclusively accessible through a subscription model, with Lithuanian users incurring a monthly fee of €99.
