From April 11 to 12, the High-Level Forum on Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development (2026) took place in Beijing. Zhang Haitao, the Director of the Hainan New Energy Vehicle Promotion Center, announced that by the end of this year, Hainan Province will throw open its entire territory for intelligent connected vehicle testing. This initiative will encompass broadening the range of open test roads and the diversity of testing scenarios, enhancing the openness of road networks, and refining test management mechanisms to establish exemplary testing demonstrations. Furthermore, Zhang Haitao highlighted that Hainan's climate bears a resemblance to that of Southeast Asia, which makes it an ideal location for right-hand drive vehicle testing, thereby offering cost-saving opportunities for automobile manufacturers.
