In the first quarter of 2026, Mercedes-Benz Group's global vehicle sales hit 499,700 units, marking a 6% year-on-year decrease. The sales of passenger cars stood at 419,400 units, also showing a 6% drop, which was in line with the pre-set projections. A striking aspect was the significant 27% year-on-year decline in the Chinese market, where sales fell to 111,600 units. This downturn was mainly attributed to the phasing-out of entry-level models in anticipation of the new generation. Mercedes-Benz has earmarked 2026 as a "transition year" for the Chinese market, during which it will broaden its range of fully electric and hybrid models.
