On April 1, sources close to the matter revealed that Song Gang, the former Vice President of Manufacturing at Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory, is poised to join Xiaomi Auto, potentially assuming the role of factory director and collaborating with Ji Guowei. Prior to his tenure at Tesla, which began in 2018, Song Gang held positions at General Motors and Ford. During his time at Tesla, he spearheaded the construction and production scale-up of the Shanghai Gigafactory. Several months ago, Song Gang tendered his resignation, and Fei Wenjin has since taken over as the factory director at Tesla’s Shanghai facility. Earlier, Envision Energy had announced that Song Gang had joined their ranks as Senior Vice President of Integrated Supply Chain; however, this announcement may not reflect the most recent developments.
