This afternoon, the Actuarial Association of China, along with China Banking and Insurance Information Technology Management Co., Ltd., released the 2025 new energy vehicle insurance claims data. According to the report, China's insurance sector underwrote a total of 43.58 million new energy vehicles, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 40.1%. Premium income surged to 190 billion yuan, offering risk coverage amounting to a staggering 159 trillion yuan. Despite these impressive figures, the industry reported underwriting losses of 5.6 billion yuan, although this represents a slight improvement with a year-on-year reduction of 100 million yuan. Moreover, the combined cost ratio witnessed a decrease of 1.3 percentage points compared to the previous year. Notably, there were 143 vehicle models with high claim rates, exhibiting a loss ratio exceeding 100%, an uptick of 6 models from the preceding year. Among these, 106 were passenger vehicles, and 37 were freight vehicles.
