On March 25, Stellantis lodged a lawsuit with the Circuit Court of Oakland County, Michigan, in the United States. The automotive giant accused its chassis supplier, ZF Chassis Modules, of suspending the supply of suspension modules. This action was allegedly taken under the duress of a $70 million cash demand and threats of price increases. Consequently, since March 14, this dispute has led to the closure of Stellantis' assembly plant in Toluca, Mexico. The plant is responsible for manufacturing the Jeep Cherokee hybrid, Jeep Compass, and the electric Jeep Wagoneer S models. In response, Stellantis has secured a court order mandating ZF to resume supplies, with expectations that the factory will recommence operations shortly. Furthermore, ZF had also issued threats to discontinue supplies to the Windsor Assembly Plant located in Ontario, Canada. This prompted Stellantis to obtain an emergency injunction from the local court to prevent such an action.
