By March 2026, the number of new energy vehicles in China had soared to over 44 million. The first significant wave of operational vehicles, such as ride-hailing cars and taxis, are now encountering battery degradation challenges. A ride-hailing driver in Beijing reported that after five years of service, his vehicle's driving range had drastically decreased from 300 kilometers to a mere 140 kilometers. In winter, with the air conditioning on, it struggles to complete even three orders before requiring a recharge. Data indicates that due to their intensive usage patterns, the battery degradation rate in operational vehicles significantly surpasses that of private cars, with battery capacity diminishing by 30% to 40% within just 3 to 4 years. In certain instances, the battery health of these vehicles has plummeted below 60%, leading to a substantial reduction in driving range.
