However, with the average gasoline price across the United States inching closer to $4 per gallon—and even surpassing this threshold in states like California and New York—consumer considerations when purchasing vehicles are undergoing a significant shift. According to data from the automotive website Edmunds.com, among all vehicle model searches conducted on the platform, consumer interest in new energy vehicle models—such as hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and pure electric vehicles—has surged to 23.8%. This marks an increase from 22.4% the previous week and represents the highest single-week record since 2026.
