Recently, Apple rolled out the iOS 26.4 system update, bringing two exciting new features to the CarPlay in-car system. The first of these is an ambient music widget, which grants users direct access to Apple's themed music playlists from the CarPlay interface, catering to four major scenarios. This feature, initially introduced in iOS 18.4, has now been seamlessly integrated into CarPlay and is accessible even without an Apple Music subscription. Once added, it can be conveniently displayed in the dashboard area of the main interface, enhancing the driving experience.

The second notable addition is support for voice chatbots, paving the way for third-party voice interaction apps such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude to be integrated into CarPlay. Users can also carry out basic operations using Siri, making the system more intuitive and user-friendly. There were earlier reports suggesting that Apple is testing a new iteration of Siri, which might make its debut on CarPlay in a voice-only format in the near future.

This update is compatible with iPhone 11 and later models. Users can easily upgrade their system by navigating to 'Settings > General > Software Update'.
