On March 21 local time, Scott Keogh, CEO of Scout, a brand under Volkswagen Group, announced that Scout Motors will establish an independent brand in the United States and may consider going public in the future. As part of the joint venture project between Volkswagen and Rivian, Scout models will adopt Rivian's software technology, and its extended-range versions will use engines produced at Volkswagen's Mexican factory. Scout plans to launch all-electric and hybrid pickup trucks and SUVs, with the first model expected to roll off the production line in 2027 and reservations already open. Additionally, Scout plans to adopt a direct-sales model, bypassing the traditional U.S. dealership system, a move that has triggered multiple lawsuits.
