On March 16, 2026, a collaborative notice was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Development and Reform Commission to initiate pilot projects for the extensive utilization of hydrogen energy. These projects, with a focus on urban agglomerations, are designed to facilitate the broad deployment of commercial vehicles—including those used in medium and heavy-duty transport, medium to long-distance freight, and cold chain logistics—through the establishment of hydrogen energy highways and corridors. Additionally, they advocate for the integration of hydrogen energy in buses and passenger cars, investigate its potential in private passenger vehicles such as official cars and ride-hailing services, and foster the high-caliber growth of the hydrogen energy sector.
