Liu Jiang, a delegate to the National People’s Congress (NPC) and Chairman of Sichuan Changhong Electronic Holding Group, disclosed during the second “Delegate Channel” session at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the 14th NPC that the CR450 EMU—the world’s fastest high-speed train currently undergoing trial runs—relies on a lithium-ion battery pack independently developed by Changhong for its emergency power supply. Following extensive design refinements and rigorous simulation testing, the battery system’s weight has been slashed from roughly 2,000 kilograms to just 920 kilograms, meeting the stringent standards for the entire train and enabling the EMU to achieve the remarkable “China Speed.”
