On March 5, WEY, a brand under Great Wall Motors, officially unveiled its chairman, Wei Jianjun, as the spokesperson for its latest model, the V9X, and released a promotional poster. Shortly after, netizens raised concerns that the poster appeared to plagiarize the creative concept of a Land Rover poster. A side-by-side comparison revealed striking similarities in background tones, composition, character poses, and vehicle placement between the two posters. On the evening of March 6, Wei Jianjun addressed the issue by releasing a video apology, openly acknowledging the plagiarism. He admitted that the primary fault lay in his insufficient review and oversight as the spokesperson and pledged to assume all legal and financial consequences. Additionally, he vowed to improve internal management and review procedures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
