On March 2, reports emerged indicating that the ongoing situation in the Middle East has had repercussions across various industries. At present, a number of Chinese autonomous driving technology firms have rolled out Robotaxi services in countries including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. In light of the conflict, local staff at autonomous driving companies—such as WeRide, Apollo Go, and Pony.ai—have implemented precautionary measures, leading to urgent operational adjustments. Currently, WeRide’s order volumes in Abu Dhabi and Riyadh remain steady, with daily services such as taxi rides and food delivery continuing uninterrupted and operational vehicles performing as usual. Pony.ai had previously halted road testing in Dubai and Doha, adhering to directives from local authorities to prioritize testing safety. Following an assessment, testing operations in Doha recommenced on March 2, and the company is maintaining ongoing dialogue with regulatory bodies in Dubai to ensure safety before resuming testing at a suitable juncture.
