Data from Carisyou, a South Korean automobile data research institute, reveals that in 2025, the new car purchase rate among individuals in their 20s and 30s in South Korea plummeted to the lowest point in a decade. Specifically, the number of new car registrations for those in their 20s stood at 61,962 vehicles, representing just 5.6% of the total new car registrations for that year. This marks a steady decline from the 8.8% share they held in 2016. Meanwhile, the number of new car registrations for individuals in their 30s last year reached 209,749 vehicles, accounting for 19% of the total. Over the past decade, this proportion has witnessed a significant drop of 6.9 percentage points, also hitting a 10-year low.
