Liu Tao, co-CEO of IM Motors, has publicly apologized for his previous comments regarding Tesla made in 2022. On November 5, 2022, a Tesla Model Y in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, lost control, leading to two fatalities and three injuries. The vehicle owner raised concerns about potential braking defects in Tesla cars, whereas Tesla maintained that the incident was due to driver error, attracting widespread public attention. During this period, Liu Tao posted a statement claiming that Tesla's products posed safety risks, but he deleted the post four hours later. In May 2023, the traffic police and forensic examination results clarified that the accident was not caused by a brake failure on the part of Tesla. Now, Liu Tao has apologized for the adverse effects his ill-advised remarks, made prior to the verification of facts, had on Tesla.
