Towards the end of last year, the automotive industry was abuzz with rumors that Tesla was poised to integrate Apple's CarPlay in-vehicle interactive system into its vehicles. However, these speculations gradually lost momentum, leading many to believe that the project had been put on hold. Contrary to these assumptions, the latest updates suggest that Tesla's software team is actively continuing the development of CarPlay, with expectations that this feature will eventually be rolled out across Tesla models. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has confirmed that CarPlay remains in active development, hinting at an imminent announcement of further details. Tesla intends to seamlessly incorporate CarPlay into its proprietary infotainment system, presenting it in a windowed format. In this setup, Tesla will retain control over one-third of the left side of the screen as well as the bottom navigation bar, while CarPlay will manage the remaining two-thirds. Notably, CarPlay will operate independently of Tesla’s Autopilot or Full Self-Driving functionalities. Additionally, Tesla plans to support wireless CarPlay, enabling drivers to utilize the Tesla interface for essential functions like charging, driving assistance, and climate control, while simultaneously accessing Apple Maps and other third-party applications via CarPlay.
