At approximately 11 a.m. on January 25, a test vehicle belonging to the self-driving taxi firm Waymo was involved in a collision in the 1200 block of Lilac Plaza, close to Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The test vehicle initially accelerated up a roadside incline and then hurtled back down, slamming into multiple parked cars along the roadside. During the incident, it narrowly missed a family standing nearby. The homeowner reported that his mother's and neighbor's vehicles were struck, and that his mother and brother, who were standing close by, were almost hit. Thankfully, no one sustained any injuries. Waymo clarified that the vehicle involved in the accident was being manually operated by a test engineer at the time, there were no passengers on board during the crash, the driver exited the vehicle independently, and no injuries were reported.
