On January 26th, news emerged that on January 23rd, 2026, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) successfully hosted a pivotal government symposium in Beijing. The event was expertly chaired by Chen Shihua, the Deputy Secretary-General of CAAM.

During the symposium, Chen Shihua delivered a comprehensive report that encapsulated the remarkable strides made by China's automobile industry since the inception of the "14th Five-Year Plan". He also provided an overview of the association's key accomplishments and outlined its strategic blueprint for the year 2026.

Leaders from the five rotating president units—FAW Group, Dongfeng Motor, SAIC Motor, Chongqing Changan, and BAIC Group—each took to the podium to share their insights and perspectives.

Representatives from government departments and industry leaders voiced their strong support for the association's endeavors and articulated their aspirations for the upcoming "15th Five-Year Plan" period, which will mark a new chapter in the automobile industry's development starting in 2026.

The symposium also served as a platform for in-depth discussions on a range of critical issues facing the industry. These included strategies to curb cut-throat competition, enhance operational monitoring mechanisms, address chip shortages, streamline product management, promote environmental protection initiatives, stimulate consumption, boost exports and international development, accelerate infrastructure construction, and improve industry data statistics.
