On January 16, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology hosted a press conference to elaborate on the relevant aspects of the 'Interim Measures for the Management of Recycling and Comprehensive Reuse of Spent Power Batteries from New Energy Vehicles.' Zhu Meina, Deputy Director of the Department of Standards and Technology Management at the State Administration for Market Regulation, highlighted that power batteries feature intricate structures, a variety of application scenarios, and involve a broad spectrum of industries. These factors collectively present challenges for efficient recycling and reuse. Hence, the State Administration for Market Regulation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, is in the process of planning to establish the 'National Technical Committee for Standardization of Power Battery Recycling and Reuse.' This initiative aims to bolster unified management of standardization efforts in power battery recycling and reuse. The committee will pool resources from pertinent industries, including raw materials, battery production, equipment manufacturing, as well as recycling and dismantling, to formulate a comprehensive standardization system for power battery recycling. It will enhance the consistency of standards across the entire industrial chain, cater to the battery recycling and reuse demands in sectors such as automotive, shipping, energy storage, rail transit, and aviation, and accelerate the rollout of a series of crucial national standards to offer technical backing for high-standard supply.
