BMW has revealed plans to develop a new-generation model of the 4 Series. This model is set to act as an alternative to the 3 Series from the new-era Neue Klasse, placing a greater focus on styling and driving dynamics. The high-performance M4 will also remain part of the lineup.
Since its launch in 2013, the 4 Series has always been the sportier sibling of the 3 Series. In 2020, the second-generation model made its debut, which then led to the introduction of the all-electric i4. As the 3 Series enters a new generational phase, BMW has confirmed that the 4 Series will continue to thrive in the Neue Klasse era. The head of R&D mentioned that the 4 Series is a vital product, able to be produced on a large scale at a relatively low cost by utilizing the platform of its core models. Changes made by Audi and Mercedes have created an untapped market segment for the 4 Series to fill.
The upcoming next-generation 4 Series will follow a dual-track approach, offering both internal combustion engine and all-electric versions. The all-electric variant is anticipated to come with a 108kWh battery, providing a driving range of over 800km. Additionally, high-performance versions are also expected to be rolled out.
