The inaugural national standard for solid-state batteries, named 'Solid-State Batteries for Electric Vehicles - Part 1: Terminology and Classification,' is now open for public comments. This move represents a pivotal advancement in the journey towards the industrialization of solid-state battery technology. The entire standard suite is envisioned to be rolled out in four distinct segments. Notably, the 'Technical Specification for Solid Electrolytes Used in Solid-State Batteries for Electric Vehicles' is already in the drafting phase.

The draft up for public review meticulously defines the pertinent terminology, classification, and coding systems for solid-state batteries. It offers exhaustive categorizations and, notably, excludes any mention of semi-solid batteries. Furthermore, it mandates that the weight loss rate of solid-state batteries must not surpass 0.5%, a criterion that is more stringent compared to previous group standards.

At present, there exists a dearth of both international and domestic standards specifically tailored for solid-state batteries utilized in vehicles. The development of this national standard holds immense importance as it aims to eliminate conceptual ambiguities and harmonize industry standards. This, in turn, is poised to significantly bolster the growth trajectory of the solid-state battery sector and pave the way for an upgrade in the new energy vehicle industry.
