Recently, Tesla formally released the FSD (Supervised) v14.2.2 update to owners of the Model 3/Y/X/S and Cybertruck across North America. This update represents the culmination of efforts for 2025 and is a testament to the Tesla AI team's dedication, having worked overtime during the Christmas period. The primary focus of this update is to enhance the fluidity of real-world driving, bolster obstacle detection capabilities, and refine precise navigation to destinations.
The system has undergone a significant upgrade to its neural network visual encoder, now featuring high-resolution feature recognition. This advancement dramatically boosts the accuracy of detecting emergency vehicles, road hazards, and human gestures. It facilitates proactive evasion of emergency vehicles like police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances, and enables real-time route adjustments in congested zones through visual recognition.
Newly introduced destination parking preference settings empower users to select their preferred disembarkation spot, be it a parking lot, street, private driveway, underground garage, or curbside. The navigation system will then automatically adjust to ensure precise parking at the chosen location. Moreover, a customizable Extreme Speed mode has been added to cater to individual speed preferences.
In terms of obstacle management, the system has refined its recognition and passing strategies for both fixed and automatic barriers, as well as avoidance tactics for road debris such as tires, branches, and cardboard boxes. The system's proficiency in handling diverse driving situations has been fortified, encompassing unprotected turns, lane changes, evading cut-in vehicles, and scenarios involving school buses.
Regarding dependability, the system has bolstered its automatic fault recovery mechanism, ensuring seamless recovery during degraded operational states. A new front windshield stain alert feature has been incorporated, prompting users to clean the windshield when the front-view camera's visibility is compromised by dirt or grime. For the 2026 Model Y, an automatic cleaning function for the front-view narrow-angle camera has been integrated, enhancing aerodynamic efficiency and cleaning effectiveness during high-speed travel.
With clearer camera views, the sensitivity of the driver attention monitoring system has also been elevated. Additionally, users' FSD usage data will now be stored in the Controls > Autopilot menu, making it convenient to review the system's activation status during daily drives.
