On December 12, data from Cox Automotive revealed that Tesla's U.S. sales in November slumped to their lowest point in nearly four years, even after the company rolled out more affordable variants of its top-selling electric vehicles. Since the Trump administration scrapped the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles at the end of September, the entire U.S. electric vehicle market has faced a significant downturn.

In a bid to counter flagging demand, Tesla unveiled simplified versions of the Model Y and Model 3 in October. These new configurations were priced roughly $5,000 lower than the base models. Nevertheless, Cox's data indicates that Tesla's total sales in November took a substantial hit, declining by nearly 23% compared to the same period last year. Sales dropped from 51,513 units in November of the previous year to just 39,800 units, hitting the lowest level since January 2022.
