At the 2025 10th New Automobile Technology Cooperation Ecosystem Exchange Conference, Han Sanchu, who serves as the Executive Vice President of Volkswagen Group (China) and the CEO of CARIAD China, announced that the inaugural model resulting from the collaboration between Volkswagen and XPENG is set to commence production at Volkswagen Anhui on December 31 of this year. Remarkably, this milestone will be achieved within a mere 18-month development cycle. Han Sanchu disclosed that, commencing this year, Volkswagen has entrusted its R&D decision-making authority to the Chinese team. In July 2024, the two entities inked a strategic cooperation and joint development pact. Subsequently, in August, they unveiled plans to integrate the jointly developed electrical and electronic architecture into Volkswagen's platforms tailored for pure electric, fuel-powered, and plug-in hybrid vehicles in China. Specifically, the CEA architecture 1.0 is poised to swiftly rectify Volkswagen's shortcomings in electrical and electronic architecture, with the first model featuring this architecture slated for launch by the end of this year. This will be followed by the introduction of four additional models starting next year. The CEA architecture 2.0 is set to undergo horizontal expansion to accommodate a diverse range of vehicle models and powertrains, with updates occurring biennially. Anticipated launches include version 2.0 in 2027 and version 3.0 in 2029.
