As reported by CCTV Business, some unscrupulous merchants are taking advantage of regulatory gaps to introduce products marketed as "smart driving gadgets," aiming to circumvent vehicle safety monitoring systems. These gadgets are covertly offered for sale on e-commerce platforms, masquerading as "steering wheel decorative rings" and "universal handlebar covers." Such deceptive practices not only pose a significant threat to road traffic safety but also breach legal boundaries and disrupt the healthy growth of the new energy vehicle sector. To assess the true performance of these products, reporters made purchases and conducted tests via e-commerce platforms. The findings revealed that these gadgets employ technical tricks, including physical counterweights and capacitance simulation, to deceive a vehicle's assisted driving systems. This enables drivers to operate vehicles without physically holding the steering wheel, effectively disabling the vehicle's safety mechanisms and leading to life-threatening scenarios, such as running red lights and colliding with obstacles.
