On December 3, reports emerged indicating that CATL's 587Ah large-capacity energy storage battery cells have recently achieved a significant milestone, having completed shipments totaling 2GWh. This accomplishment positions CATL as the first to attain a shipment volume at the GWh scale. Projections suggest that the annual shipment volume will soar to 3GWh this year, signaling the official commencement of large-scale commercial deployment for these cells.
It has been reported that leveraging its self-developed super-drawing line technology, CATL's Jining base boasts a system capacity capable of producing more than 220,000 587Ah battery cells daily. The maximum production rate per production line exceeds 120 cells per minute, averaging less than 2 seconds to manufacture a single cell. This technological advancement has led to a 42% reduction in production costs, while simultaneously achieving a safety failure rate at the PPB (parts per billion) level, signifying an extremely low occurrence of one failure per billion units.
