Recently, the first-instance judgment was made in the first case of a car purchase dispute in China involving Xiaomi's vehicle, where the company 'demanded the final payment before vehicle delivery'. According to multiple media reports, in December 2024, Xiaomi Haikou Company unilaterally arranged for the vehicle to go offline and required consumers to pay off the final balance within 7 days of receiving the payment notice. Due to the inability to inspect the vehicle and facing difficulties in cash flow, the consumer did not pay the final balance. As a result, Xiaomi Auto canceled the order and confiscated the 5,000-yuan deposit, leading to a dispute between the two parties.
