Tao Lin, Tesla's Vice President, clarified on a social media platform that Tesla adheres to the same stringent and impartial criteria when choosing suppliers for its global manufacturing facilities, regardless of the supplier's country of origin or geographic location. Thanks to the "Made in China, Powered by Chinese Innovation" strategy employed by the Shanghai Gigafactory, domestic consumers can enjoy the Model 3 and Y at the most competitive global prices. This factory works in tandem with over 400 local Chinese supply chain partners and has integrated more than 60 of these partners into its global procurement network. Furthermore, over 95% of the components for each Model 3 and the updated Model Y produced in China are sourced domestically. Nevertheless, there have been speculations that Tesla might discontinue using Chinese parts for manufacturing vehicles destined for the U.S. market within the next one to two years, a move that could potentially affect some domestic businesses.
