Coinciding with the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) taking place in Belém, a city in northern Brazil, Didi's Brazilian ride-hailing subsidiary, 99, has revealed that its electric vehicle service category, "99electric-Pro," has broadened its footprint to encompass five major cities: São Paulo, Brasília, Porto Alegre, Goiânia, and Curitiba. This expansion underscores the company's commitment to advancing green transportation initiatives. The "99electric-Pro" service stands out as Brazil's inaugural ride-hailing option that combines the offerings of pure electric vehicles and hybrid models, prioritizing a serene, comfortable, and environmentally conscious travel experience. Following its initial rollout in São Paulo in July 2024, the service has progressively been introduced in various locations.
Presently, the 99 platform boasts a fleet of over 30,000 electric and hybrid vehicles, having collectively served more than 27 million passengers. These vehicles have logged a cumulative driving distance exceeding 245 million kilometers, leading to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 31,200 tons, which is equivalent to planting around 245,000 trees. Drivers who offer "99electric-Pro" services enjoy an average income that is roughly 60% higher than those operating in traditional fuel-powered vehicle categories.
Furthermore, 99 has forged a partnership with the Brazilian local firm Riba Brasil to deploy 300 electric motorcycles in Belém. This initiative is projected to enable riders to save up to 35% on operational and maintenance costs, while also curbing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1 ton for every 10,000 kilometers traveled. The two-wheeled ride service, 99Moto, which was launched by 99 in 2022, had surpassed the 2 billion order milestone by October 2025, with its services now available in over 3,300 towns and cities throughout Brazil.
99 has expressed its intention to persist in collaborating with new energy enterprises from both China and Brazil, as well as with local partners, to delve into sustainable transportation solutions across more cities and to consistently foster the growth of a low-carbon urban mobility ecosystem.
