Data released by Germany's Federal Statistical Office reveals that employment within the nation's automotive sector has plummeted to its lowest point in over a decade, primarily driven by widespread layoffs. As of the conclusion of September 2025, the aggregate workforce in the industry—encompassing both automotive manufacturers and parts suppliers—numbered 721,400 individuals. This figure marks the lowest employment level since mid-2011, when the workforce stood at 718,000. In comparison to the same period in the previous year, there has been a decline of 48,700 employees, equivalent to a 6.3% reduction.
