On November 16, Lei Jun, the CEO of Xiaomi Group, took to Weibo and posted a series of messages in quick succession. In these posts, he reaffirmed Xiaomi's automotive safety design philosophy, stressing that "safety is the cornerstone, the prerequisite, and the utmost priority." Previously, Lei Jun's comments, like "for a car, aesthetics come first," had been misconstrued, resulting in allegations that "Xiaomi prioritizes the appearance of its cars over safety." In response, Lei Jun clarified that aesthetics and safety are not mutually exclusive. To back up his point, he shared screenshots of his Weibo posts from 2023 and 2024. These posts showcased Xiaomi's pre-existing commitment to safety and its research and development (R&D) standards, well before the launch of the Xiaomi SU7. The Xiaomi SU7 is built on a foundation of multiple rigorous safety standards, encompassing four key areas: passive safety, active safety, battery safety, and privacy safety.
