Recently, the release of a draft for the new national standard has ignited widespread debate. According to the draft, passenger vehicles are required to default to a mode where the 0-100 km/h acceleration time is no less than 5 seconds each time the vehicle is powered on or started (excluding systems with automatic engine start-stop functionality). Moreover, the draft introduces several new stipulations, including limitations on the single-pedal driving mode, mandates for physical buttons, mechanical release mechanisms for door handles, and the inclusion of a Driver Monitoring System (DMS) for detection purposes. Specifically, passenger vehicles must be outfitted with interior and exterior door handles that incorporate mechanical release capabilities; physical controls must be available for gear shifting, turn signals, and similar functions; when the integrated driving assistance system is engaged, hand and eye disengagement detection must be conducted; and when the vehicle's speed surpasses 10 km/h, entertainment functions on the driver's side screen and the Head-Up Display (HUD) are prohibited.
