At noon on November 12, 2025, an extreme challenge test was underway at the Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie, Hunan, with the Chery Fengyun X3L as the test vehicle. During the test, an unexpected mishap occurred: the shackle securing the safety rope's anchor point for the testing equipment came loose. Consequently, the rope became entangled with the vehicle's wheels, impeding its power transmission. This led to the vehicle sliding downhill and crashing into a section of the guardrail, causing damage.

On the morning of November 13, Chery Automobile issued an apology statement, expressing its sincere regrets to the scenic area management, visitors, partners, and all other affected parties. The company acknowledged its shortcomings in risk assessment and meticulous oversight during the event's preparation and execution. It vowed to fully restore the damaged site and take responsibility for all related compensation.

According to staff from the Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area, the ladder remained closed to visitors on the 13th, and the timeline for repairs and reopening remained uncertain.
